WHISKIES TO BE PRESENTED

Saverio has chosen a beautiful selection of Scottish Whiskies, sure to satisfy any discerning palate. Below is a brief introduction to our samples:

Glenmorangie - The Cadboll 15 Year (43%)

Glenmorangie The Cadboll Estate 15 Year is the first single estate whisky from the Highlands distillery. The single malt was made from barley grown on the brand's 440-acre Cadboll Estate located near the distillery. The type of barley and malting specifications were chosen by Dr. Bill Lumsden, Glenmorangie's Director of Distilling, Whisky Creation & Whisky Stocks. The single malt matured in first-fill American oak ex-bourbon barrels for 15 years. Bottled at 43% ABV after chill-filtration.

The Cadboll presents a lot of sharp edges from start to finish.

The nose is led by varnish and fusel aromas that allow some lemon and biscuit notes to pop up.

The palate opens with a nice orange peel sweetness, but ends overly bitter and leathery.

Loch Lomond Inchmurrin Single Cask Exclusive Bottled for Bottega (Cask No 689) (55,6%)

A single cask specially selected & exclusively bottled for the Bottega Whiskey Club. This Loch Lomond Inchmurrin 11year old single malt distilled September 2008 & bottled November 2019, matured in refill American hogshead then finished for 9 months in new French Oak. The first whisky specialist retail single cask release in South Africa finished in Limousin French Oak.

In celebration of Bottega's 20th birthday & limited to 371 bottles, non-chill filtered, natural colour & bottled at cask strength of 55.6%. A fruity, sweet single malt whisky with a hint of spice.

Taste: Orchid fruit, peaches and runny honey, some pineapples, lemon peel and vanilla fudge before a mild oak spiciness.

Macallan Classic Cut - 2019 Edition (52.9%)

The Macallan Classic Cut - 2019 Edition is the third edition in the limited annual series that celebrate our ongoing commitment to seek out the extraordinary and in doing so, create whiskies of unique character. This exceptional single malt offers a dominant sweetness and balanced flavours, realised through its slightly higher ABV of 52.9%.

The third edition in the limited annual series, The Macallan Classic Cut - 2019 Edition has an ideal ABV of 52.9% to bring forth the full character of the single malt. This has been chosen by the Whisky Maker Polly Logan as the optimum strength to reveal a dominant sweetness and the well balanced flavours of this whisky. To truly appreciate the complex flavour dimensions, pour and allow it to breathe for 10-15 minutes for an intensified experience. After this time, heightened flavours of orange, sweet ginger and vanilla come to the forefront, combined with a satisfyingly long finish. Classic Cut 2019 is a truly indulgent single malt whisky.

Colour: Antique Gold.

Aroma: Orange zest with ginger and nutmeg balanced with sultana and a hint of hazelnut.

Palate: Sweet ginger and orange zest with a gentle oak spice.

Finish: Medium sweet with a lingering honey note.

Highland Park 16 Year Old Twisted Tattoo (46.7%)

Highland Park's Twisted Tattoo combines whisky aged in Spanish Rioja wine seasoned casks with whisky aged first-fill bourbon casks - a wonderful combination indeed! Inspiration for this one came from the Viking legend of the Midgard Serpent, which got itself twisted around the world to bite its own tail. You can even see said serpent on the bottle's label, designed by tattoo artist Colin Dale.

Nose: Roasted red berries, shortbread, a whiff of sea spray.

Palate: Peppery malt, orange oil, vanilla, cut grass, blueberry muffin and buttered malt loaf.

Finish: Boozy red wine tannins and soft smoke.

The GlenDronach 21 Year Old - Parliament (48%)

A 21 year old Glendronach released in 2011, and aged in a mix of sherry casks (Oloroso and sweet Pedro Ximenez dessert sherry). The result is really very good indeed. Interestingly enough, this whisky has no political associations. It is, in fact, named "Parliament" after the collective term for a group of rooks - and there is a Parliament of Rooks living in the trees near GlenDronach...

Nose: Soft smoke and lemon juice, cedar wood, apple peel, toasty oak, soft earth, date and walnut cake and a hint of freshly made espresso.

Palate: Golden syrup, soft, juicy raisins, tangy oak notes, peach, cherry blossom, cocoa and honeydew melon.

Finish: Sherry tones lead the finish, with a hint of sulphur, chocolate, luscious fruit and pepper.
