    Mr. Wamkele Mene, first Secretary General of the AfCFTA, was sworn in on 19 March 2020 at the African Union Headquarters in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Prior to being elected to this position, he was South Africa’s chief negotiator for AfCFTA. He also represented South Africa at the World Trade Organization.
